China, Clearly is operated by a sole proprietor registered in China and acts as controller of the personal data described here. The legal name, registered address and privacy contact email must be added to this page before public launch; they will also appear in every proposal and invoice.
1. Information we collect
We may collect contact details; trip dates and destinations; traveler numbers, ages or general access needs; budget and preferences; enquiry and correspondence records; proposal, invoice and payment-status records; feedback; and technical information such as IP address, browser, device, referral page and security logs.
Please do not send passport numbers, payment-card details, account passwords, detailed medical records or other highly sensitive information through a general enquiry. If limited sensitive information is genuinely needed to tailor a trip, we will ask only for what is necessary and, where required, obtain your explicit consent.
2. How we obtain information
Most information comes directly from you when you submit a trip brief, contact us, purchase a service, request a revision or give feedback. The website enquiry form is processed by Formspree and delivered to our email inbox. We may also receive limited transaction confirmation from a payment provider and technical data from hosting, security and communications providers.
3. Why we use it
- To respond to an enquiry and assess whether the service is a fit.
- To prepare, deliver and revise your itinerary under our contract.
- To process payment, keep business records and meet tax or legal obligations.
- To protect the website, prevent abuse and troubleshoot problems.
- To improve the service using aggregated or de-identified learning.
- To send marketing only where you have consented or where law otherwise permits, with an unsubscribe option.
Where GDPR or UK GDPR applies, the legal bases are steps requested before a contract, performance of a contract, compliance with legal obligations, our legitimate interests in operating and securing a small service business, and consent where required.
4. Sharing and international processing
We do not sell personal information and do not share it for cross-context behavioural advertising. We use Formspree to receive website enquiries and may share only what is necessary with providers that support hosting, security, email, document storage, payments, accounting and professional advice, or with authorities where law requires it. These providers may process data outside your country. Where required, we use appropriate contractual or legal safeguards and assess the transfer.
We do not send your personal information to hotels, transport operators or other travel suppliers unless you specifically ask us to do so and we agree in writing.
5. Retention
We keep enquiry records only as long as reasonably needed to respond and follow up, normally no more than 12 months after the last meaningful contact. Formspree retains submissions according to the limits and retention period of our account plan; we delete submissions there when they are no longer needed. Project files are normally retained for up to 24 months after delivery so we can answer questions and manage disputes. Invoice, tax and legally required business records may be kept for the applicable statutory period. Security logs are generally kept for a shorter period unless needed to investigate misuse. We then delete or de-identify the information.
6. Cookies and similar technologies
China, Clearly does not currently use optional advertising or analytics cookies. Hosting and security providers may use strictly necessary technologies to deliver the site, balance traffic, remember essential settings and prevent abuse. Because these are necessary for the service, they are not used for advertising choices. If optional analytics or marketing tools are added later, this notice and an appropriate consent control will be updated before those tools are enabled.
7. Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to be informed, access your information, correct it, delete it, restrict or object to processing, receive portable data, withdraw consent, or complain to a data-protection authority. California residents may also have rights to know, correct and delete covered information and to opt out of sale or sharing. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are used in the CCPA.
To exercise a right, use the privacy contact stated in your proposal or invoice. We may need to verify your identity. We will not discriminate against you for making a valid request. Rights can be subject to legal exceptions, and some privacy laws apply only after statutory thresholds are met.
8. Security
We use proportionate administrative and technical safeguards, including access controls, trusted service providers and limited collection. No internet service is completely secure. If a breach creates a legally reportable risk, we will notify the relevant authority and affected individuals as required.
9. Children
The service is purchased by adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. A parent or guardian may provide limited age and travel-needs information necessary to plan a family trip and remains responsible for that information.
10. External links and changes
The website and itineraries may link to third-party sites with their own privacy practices. We are not responsible for those practices. We may update this notice when the service, providers or law changes; the date above identifies the current version. Material changes will be highlighted where appropriate.
